Dumper Truck Training

There's loads of dumper truck training courses that can help you successfully train to operate this kind of plant and provide a qualification that will be widely accepted on site.

Courses typically last one to four training days and include some form of assessment. The most widely recognised qualification is the CPCS or Construction Plant Competence Scheme run by approved Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) training providers.

The CPCS Trained Operator Card is in practice more or less a requirement if you plan to work on major construction sites. Other dumper truck training courses will issue their own certificates which demonstrate to an employer only your attendance on their course.

The CITB dumper training will cover both Health & Safety and Professional Competence and should always be carried out by accredited Training Instructors. Its the construction industry standard and recognised and welcomed by all the major construction firms.

Dumper Truck Courses

Operator training for dumper truck driving will cover the correct use of all the controls of the machine and what all its various parts do. Training will be given in unloading and setting up the dumper including the necessary checks to perform before starting the dumper and the ongoing maintenance procedures including refueling.

Driving instruction will include techniques for travelling on roads and over difficult terrain; negotiating hills and inclines safely and turning in tight spaces with a loaded skip. Training will also cover all aspects of loading and unloading including correct vehicle placement and safe tipping.

For the CITB card trainees will be assessed and must undertake a Health & Safety theory test covering aspects of construction site safety. The practical assessment will cover dumper truck driving and loading and unloading operations.
